"St. Vincent’s is
a unique church."
Everybody says so. Some say it as a compliment; some say it as an
insult.
But everybody says we’re unique. What makes us unique?
-
We have a very old (1840) and very beautiful
church. Some people love it just for the history and the
architecture.
-
We draw parishioners from all over. Most of
the weekend congregation is from the city and the five surrounding
counties, but our mailing list includes people in 14 other states
and 3 other countries, and our ancestors are from 4 continents.
-
We really have fun at liturgy. Each of our
four weekend masses has a slightly different character. But each is
a real community.
-
We operate more like a large family than a
small institution. The pastor and the Parish Council give some
leadership, but most thing we do bubble up from the people rather
than coming down from above.
-
We take Scripture and Sacrament very
seriously, the rest not too seriously, and ourselves not seriously
at all.
Come visit and decide for
yourself whether “unique”
is a compliment or an insult.
