There are home building
opportunities to do your part for the needy of our
area. No experience or tools are necessary.
St. Vincent's
works with United Churches, a strong coalition of
Christian churches of various denominations, to build a
home each year. United Churches offers congregations
the opportunity to participate in sponsoring a
Chesapeake
Habitat house if they do not have the resources
to sponsor an entire home themselves. Participants
share the financial responsibility, and work together to
physically build the house.
Beginning Spring, 2009,
Chesapeake Habitat has instituted an online system for
Volunteer Scheduling, Volunteers can
self-schedule for available work dates beginning March
14 through the Fall, 2009, when the house renovation
should be complete.
As part of the
registration process, two "Join Codes" are needed to
identify you as being members of United Churches and St.
Vincent's Church. These can be obtained, along with
answers to other questions, from
