Easter Vigil '09
St.
Vincent's has a unique Easter Vigil which starts at 9:30 PM on
Holy Saturday night with the lighting of the New Fire in our
outdoor Easter Flames firepot/sculpture, and continues through
the nights with Hours planned by members of the congregation.
During the night. we read the scriptures, i.e. tell the stories
of our salvation. We read from the Torah, the Prophets,
and the Writings. In addition to the scripture readings,
the Hours are punctuated by hymns, psalms, and reflections
offered by the planners. The Vigil concluded on Easter
Sunday morning with the Liturgy of the Water during which
Cathacumens are baptized and Candidates are confirmed.
This is followed by the Liturgy of the Eucharist, during which
