News About 2011-2012 Faith, Fun, and Fellowship
On the second and fourth Sundays of the month during the school year, children gather after the 9:30 Mass at St. Vincent’s for catechesis. In four groups by grade level, they learn about how to live one’s Catholic beliefs. The program we use is Celebrate Our Faith (Silver Burdett Ginn), which is also used by many Catholic elementary and middle schools in their religious education programs. Topics include: Holy Scripture, Christian morality, Catholic social justice teachings, Church history, the liturgical and sacramental life of the church, the Trinity, the life and teachings of Jesus, and types of prayer. In the early years, children also memorize and recite together the Nicene Creed, the Ten Commandments and the Great Commandment, the Doxology, and the Hail Mary.
Nov. 13th Session for FFF Parents: Children’s Moral Development If you are looking for a constructive way to spend the time while your children are learning about their faith, join us on November 13th for a session on the Moral Development of Children. The session will be held in the choir practice room on the third floor of the educational building. The session will run 11 AM – 12 PM, so get your coffee and pastry after Mass and join us!
