Women in
Ministry
Contact: Terri Rizzo, 410.494.0336
Women in
Ministry is a group of women who believe that, through Baptism,
women as well as men may be called to diverse and various
ministries in the church, including ordination. In solidarity
and through prayer and action, we serve our Church community by:
-
Promoting
the liberating messages of the Gospel
-
Increasing the awareness of overt and covert sexism within
the Catholic community
-
Working
to eradicate unjust and unfair policies that prevent all
of God's people from using their gifts and talents to
their fullest extent
Women in
Ministry is an opportunity for those who share this belief to
explore and deepen our understanding of how we experience God in
our lives, and to integrate our life experiences with the Gospel
story. Through the discussion of various resource materials
such as books, film, art, poetry, and music, we journey together
centered on the Word of God in scripture, prayer and
spirituality. Understanding that there is a wealth of insights
to gain from other traditions, we also delve into varied and
novel spiritual concepts, ways and ideas.
Sharing
life stories with each other gives concrete examples of God's
grace in our lives. We reinforce one another, encourage one
another, and learn from one another, and grow in relationship
with God and each other.
This group
is open to all women in the parish. We meet every third Monday
of each month, at each other’s homes, from 7:30 pm until 9:30 pm
with an opportunity to socialize afterwards. The group is not a
committee and there is no chair. Women take turns facilitating
and/or hosting each meeting.
