11:00 am Faith, Fun, Fellowship

Children gather after the 9:30 Mass at St. Vincent’s for catechesis. In four groups by grade level, they learn about how to live one’s Catholic beliefs. The program we use is Celebrate Our Faith (Silver Burdett Ginn), which is also used by many Catholic elementary and middle schools in their religious education programs. Topics include: Holy Scripture, Christian morality, Catholic social justice teachings, Church history, the liturgical and sacramental life of the church, the Trinity, the life and teachings of Jesus, and types of prayer. In the early years, children also memorize and recite together the Nicene Creed, the Ten Commandments and the Great Commandment, the Doxology, and the Hail Mary.

5:30 pm Taize

Taizé services are conducted every second Sunday at 5:30 PM. These evening services, modeled on the ecumenical Taizé experience, provide an opportunity for candlelight prayer, silent meditation and singing. Each is a time to stop, reflect, and rejuvenate during otherwise busy, hectic schedules. With periods of silence, there is time for personal contemplative prayer. The chants and songs use few words and are repeated many times.
